delicious Turkish Chicken Kebabs with special seasoning and homemade skewers!
assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatahu
ingredients:
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons pepper paste (can be found in Turkish/Mediterranean markets or substituted with red pepper flakes)
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon sumac
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Homemade skewers (see below)
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, onion, garlic, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, tomato paste, pepper paste, cumin, smoked paprika, sumac, oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well all the ingredients.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
When ready to cook, preheat your grill to medium-heat.
To make the homemade skewers, take thin metal skewers and bend them in half to create a "U" shape. Thread the meat mixture onto the skewers, shaping them into long, thin cylinders about 1/2 inch thick.
Grill the skewers for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are fully cooked through and slightly charred on the outside.
Serve the Adana kebabs with pita bread, cucumber-tomato salad, and a drizzle of tahini or yogurt sauce.
